Turning proverbial lemons into lemonade, the pandemic did produce a reset. It yielded opportunities to get outdoors into the natural world. The weirdness of social distancing was muted as we walked with friends, shared a meal on a porch, or dug into a garden.
There is clinical evidence that spending time in nature benefits health. As measured in clinical trials of forest bathing, Shinrin-yoku, exposure to natural settings yields positive physiological measures of stress reduction.
In contrast, unhealthy lifestyles impact the endocrine and immune systems in ways that are detrimental to health. Recovery from LC is better served by managing and reducing stress.

Above is a photo of part of my garlic harvest this summer. It’s a crop that we plant in October here in Vermont, and harvest in the following July. I’m now growing brassica (Brussel’s sprouts, cabbage, broccoli), a few beets and kale in the unused bed. Below are wildflowers from our meadow.
I’m weaving nature into my recovery. I hope that you can do the same.
A reminder, for professionals and others who might want a zoom meeting, I make these available to those who are Founding Member Subscribers. Educational handouts addressing lifestyle, Long COVID recovery strategies, stress reduction and other needs, are in the works.
