Wonderful resources. I am an early educator, having taught children birth through age 5 for 30 years. I am also a parent of a person with autism. He has limited communication, both expressive and receptive. Love the autism app. I will give it a try. I am most interested in tools for non verbal or developmental disabilities or senior folks. How can I support the youngest and oldest in finding a sense of peace? Thank you for sharing.

Ylan, you can also help your work and help us by sharing my posts with friends and student families. While I focus on Long COVID, there is an overlap in the causes, in that mitochondrial dysfunction (MD) is also implicated in some aspects of autism. Both primary and secondary MD are treatable in many cases. Largely, treatment involves nutrition.

The meditations are wonderful, in the videos you shared. I could’ve use this during my teaching years! I believe my adult son might enjoy this as well. It was great to look at this again. I've been looking back at some of my own writing as well. I've also been thinking about stress and the immune system. My mom is now struggling with some lingering covid problems which surprised me because she shouldn't be. However, the only explanation I have been able to come up with as to why she may now be having problems recovering from covid is because of going through my dad's cancer diagnosis and treatment last year. I highly suspect a stress connection.

Dr Stephen Porges, one of the great neuroscientists of our era, has worked extensively on the value of sound to move the nervous system from a state of vigilance to one of safety. The key here is knowing and using sound(generally music) that can reprogram the nervous system to provide a state of safety.

I've recently been working with an elderly individual who was traumatized in an accident. Exposure to sounds that the nervous system could recognize as signals of safety was a big part of early and generally successful efforts to promote healing from the trauma.

Cultivating a state of safely is healing.

No pun intended Mardi, but all that fundamentally rings for me, despite (I hope) the fact that I was once a musician. I shall have to spend some time paying attention to Dr. Porges if allowed. One 'feeling' a state of *safety* is utterly fundamental ! Thank you

Hi Lyndsey,

I hope that you will find some of this useful. I also lost a lot of my hair and it did a number on my skin. Both are much improved now. I suspect that fish oil intake helped me somewhat along with B-complex vitamins and a nourishing diet that took account of newly acquired food sensitivities. Do have a look at the posts on diet where I tried to lay out my approach. I hope that you will check in again. Be well.

Thank you! My hair is finally coming in good. Kind of looks like a mullet at the moment but it’s okay bc that’s back in style these days😆🤣 to help grow it back my doctor has had me on finasteride 1 mg daily and copper 2 mg BiD and it has helped so much. Also on tons of vitamins as well. Don’t worry though bc I won’t be on the finasteride long term esp if I start to grow a beard. I will definitely look into that regimen you mentioned. Feel free to check out my journey on my Substack. I try to update it as my testing goes along and as my ailments a mile long allow me to! Take care !💜

Enjoying all of your research on Long Covid and I'm finding so little research in the public venue that is focused on mitochondrial damage and how to take an integrated approach to cellular function repair. I certainly would hope that NIH would be sufficiently motivated to prioritize funding of this kind of research in remediating the deleterious effects of the spike protein.

Virologists report that SARS-CoV2 virus enter cells and move to the mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum. They adhere to the membrane of these organelles. In the case of the mitochondria, the virus is able to use cellular energy for its own replication. This then competes with the host for energy needed for cellular function. Mitochondria also play a role in the innate immune system, as a first line of defense against viral infections. Inflammation is inherent in both of these situations. In contrast, the spike protein is involved in initiating the infection, specifically by facilitating the binding and uptake of the virus at compatible cell surface receptors. The spike protein plays a crucial role in penetrating host cells and thus initiating infection.
